Chapter 5: Crime doesn't pay. Unless you're the Overlord.

Last time on Let's Play Disgaea, we beat up a little girl in a frozen wasteland. Aren't we awesome? Today we're going to learn how to make her not suck. But first...

Intro Drama for EP 3

I get that part.
Now, explain to me why I have to pay YOUR vassals' salary.
My vassals are your vassals, right?
Then, it's only natural that you sign their paychecks.
Ugh... I can't argue with that...
...Fine. But, it's not comin' outta my pocket.
Huh? I thought you had plenty of money.
That's my allowance! No one's touching it!
Stingy...
Shut up! ...So, who's the richest guy around here?
We'll just loot his place!!
...Is he always like this?
Yep, always.
I've never met anybody like that in Celestia.
I'd be amazed if you did.
But, you won't last long in the Netherworld if something like this surprises you.
Oooh... This is such a culture shock to me...

Okay, with that out of the way, let's take a look at our newest minion... err... Valued Team Member.

So, Flonne clearly has caster stats. While her weapon masteries aren't shown, she's S with staves, A with bows, and it turns out she's B with guns. Staves seem to be the clear choice, with one little problem: She's only got that one spell at the moment. Power of Love, by the way, is a large heal on a ring of squares around Flonne. It's pretty nice. In order to remedy this, though, we're going to need some mana. After we've done that, we'll have Flonne make a couple of characters, let's say a red mage and priest. Now let's go to the Magnificent Gate for a second.

Here's Flonne, all alone on the map. Let's see what happens, though, if we bring out one of our new characters.

Suddenly, Flonne has access to level 0 Heal and Fire! See, characters with spells can share them with the character that created them while they're adjacent. And if you level them up to level 1...

... You have learned them for good, even if the character you learned them from isn't adjacent to you. This is why I waited a map to create a Blue Skull (I wanted my cleric to be able to create it so she could learn Ice). This is an incredibly useful game mechanic, because it also lets you get Heal spells onto characters like Laharl so they can heal themselves.

So, the obvious question is, why go through all this trouble? Why not just use regular mages and clerics instead of messing around with Flonne? Well, Flonne's got something they don't have: Hp and Def. Flonne's not rock hard or anything, but especially compared to mages and skulls she's much more resilient. A healer with good damage dealing capability who won't die when an enemy looks at her funny is a good combination, especially at this point in the game.

Next time on Let's Play Disgaea: Robbing from the rich and giving to ourselves, it's the Netherworld way.
